masterful scrapbook design: rule play

i was born to break the rules.  design rules, that is.  i was an incredibly square child and would never think to break any rules.  the quintessential good girl, i was.  but, i'm no longer a child and we're breaking design rules left and right over at masterful scrapbook design this month.  i'm all over it!  what a great topic!  the magazine component to the seminar will be released today, and it's going to be packed with ideas, inspiration, and education.

i was so into the topic that i made another layout for it yesterday.  this one breaks all sorts of rules.  random colors thrown on the page with complete disregard to coordination.  check.  even numbered embellies.  check.  one set of those embellies making a square around my bottom photo.  check.   no well designed focal point.  check.  a stagnant symmetrical design.  check.  i love it though!  and the beauty of masterful scrapbook design is that there are interviews and chat sessions to go along with the release of the magazine, so you'll be able to hear all about exactly why this page DOES work even though it breaks the "rules" so to speak.  not only will you learn the rules in this class, but you'll come to understand that they're not really rules at all; they're merely guiding principles that help you tell your visual story more effectively.  it's a good one.
